God created us to live in a relationship with Him.  Within that relationship He has set some ground rules or guidelines to protect us along the paths of life.  The Ten Commandments were not given by an aloof deity who wants to steal our fun, but instead by a loving God who wants to protect us while we walk in a relationship with Him.
