God created man and woman. God created marriage. 1 Peter has some words to wives and husbands. Under the inspiration of God’s Holy Spirit, Peter places challenges before men and women to fulfill their calling marriage.
The Bible has a lot to say about marriage. Marriage is a wonderful gift from God. In marriage there can be tremendous joy as well as great difficulty. We must learn as we go through the valleys of challenge, the plains of parenting, the hills of hurts, and the heights of joy together.
Marriage is a precious gift of God. But let’s be honest…marriage can be hard work! The truth is that every marriage faces obstacles, difficulties, and conflict. This is the first sermon in a series on marriage in which we will look at some foundational passages about marriage.
There is a challenge given to men to love their wives “like Christ loved the church.” Jesus set the standard on how we are to love.
God created marriage and the family. He loves it when families live in harmony. As we face challenges, experience hardships, and shed tears; or we laugh, eat together, enjoy holidays, or begin new adventures the bond that holds a family together is love.
In the Ten Commandments following the sanctity of life is the sanctity of marriage. Marriage is God’s creation! God created it, defined it, and He desires for us to live in a harmonious marital relationship.
