James is a book of action! He calls believers to show their faith through their actions!
As people of faith we are challenged to make wise decisions. Yet, we have to ask the question “Where do you get your wisdom?” The Bible shows us that there is an earthy wisdom and a godly wisdom.
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” is the rhyme we learned as children. Yet, the truth of the matter is words do hurt! As believers we must be careful that our faith is shown through our words.
Can I get to heaven by doing good things? Can I get to heaven by having my good actions outweigh the bad things I’ve done? These are often the questions that people ask as they think about heaven and meeting the Lord.
As children many of us learned the song “Jesus Loves the Little Children.” We sang “Red and yellow, black and white they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world.” Our God loves the world!
A genuine faith in Jesus Christ is more than mere words. True faith brings action.
Listening to God’s voice through the Word is essential for our spiritual life and growth.
James is a book of imperatives. His action steps for believers who are facing trials and temptations are clearly shared in James 1:19. Be swift to hear. Be slow to speak. Be slow to wrath.
God is good! The Bible not only teaches this truth, but we can experience His goodness in our lives. In a world that can be chaotic, confusing, and filled with conflict, God is good. As we go through trials, God is good. As we face temptation, God is good. As we confront deception, God is…
